You would be affixing the labels to the bags with a little double sided tape and filling them up with your goodies 🙂 No folding over and stapling needed.

The labels are approximately 2″x3.5″ and they will fit plastic bags that are 4″x6″ or 3″x5″. You can find the bags at craft stores.

Here’s a suggestion on how to set up your Crafting Table activity at your party:
*Throw some tablecloths down, arrange your napkins, plates, cups and plastic cutlery.
* Place empty bowls on your tables. Then filled the bowls with your party snacks. Place a food tent near its corresponding snack (for example, place the Carrot food tent near the Cheetos Puffs and the Dirt Grass food tent near your rice crispy treats)
* wrap your water bottles or soda bottles with the potion labels and the creeper juice labels. Place your drinks in a separate area.
* On a separate table, place for empty bowls. Place 1 of the following 4 tent signs in front of the bowls: Creeper Marsssshmallows, TNT, Raw Fish, Bookmarks
* fill those four bowls with those 4 party treat favors
* line up your empty goodie bags behind the bowls
*Tape the Crafting Table Poster to the table, hanging off the front so the guests can see it.
*Your party guests will “craft” their own goody bags when they are leaving the party

***The guests create their potions by adding their potion ingredients to the base liquid at the potion brewing station***

Choose a base. Then add the flavors.

Bases (suggestions):
Water
Sprite
Seltzer
Lemonade

Potion Ingredients (suggestions):
Water beverage mix packets
Kool-Aid packets
Snowcone liquid flavoring
Sugar-free water flavoring packets
Water Flavor Drops (like Dasani or Mio or Koolaid, etc.)

Instructions on how to print, fold, tape included! You can print off as many as you’d like.

If you are willing to “craft” your own Minecraft decorations, then this party kit is perfect for you!

You can set this kit up any way you choose.

I suggest two options for this package of displaying your potion ingredients.

With either option, throw a tablecloth down on your area. Tape your sign to the table or to the wall behind it.

Suggestion One: Put some water bottles with potion labels on one side and some small bowls on the other. Set up the sign tents near the bowls. Fill your bowls with your potion ingredients. Then put the straws with flags in a separate cup (optional). Sprinkle little diamond play gems on the table and ta-da! You have a Minecraft Potion Brewing Station! (You can find little play diamond gems at Michael’s craft store for around three dollars)

Suggestion Two: Pick three or four of the Favor Bag Toppers/Labels, affix them to small plastic bags with a little bit of double-sided tape, fill them with potion ingredients! Put the water bottle labels on your drink bottles for the party: use as party beverages. Place the tent signs around the party near the food. Place a few cups around the party and drop in the straws with flags inside.

How I did it: One box cake mix, three tubs frosting (two chocolate frosting tubs for black and one vanilla frosting tub split evenly between dark purple and light purple), three icing colors (two black and one purple).  Wilton’s black icing color into the chocolate frosting tub and Wilton’s purple icing color into the vanilla frosting tub.  Take half of the frosting out of the vanilla frosting tub with a spatula and put it into another similar container.  Put a lot of purple icing color into one tub and less into the other tub to achieve the light and dark purple colors. Then mix with one wand carefully over your sink.  Wear gloves at all times.  Why?  The icing colors stain skin and while mixing the frosting, it tends to go everywhere 🙂

Minecraft Birthday Party | Minecraft Dirt Grass Recipe

INGREDIENTS
3 tbsp butter
1 10 oz pckg large Marshmallows
OR
4 cups Mini Marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1 leaf green Wilton icing coloring
1 Wilton grass frosting tip #233
1 Wilton icing bag
1 White frosting tub
DIRECTIONS
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
2. Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using spatula or wax paper, evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares.
4. Mix green color into white frosting tub (I used a blender – one wand). Using spatula, take frosting from tube into plastic bag. Secure tip. Squeeze bag to form grass. Pull up and away when icing strand is long enough (about 1/2 inch) stop pressure and pull tip away. Grass will be neatly formed only if you stop squeezing before you pull tip away.

At the party, the kids “crafted” their own goody bags when their parents arrived to pick them up.  Tape three signs to the table; front and both sides of the table (the table was surrounded at times on all sides by the boys checking it out 🙂

Place the open and empty Enderman Minecraft Goody Bags (black treat bags with Enderman eyes) and four bowls for the Crafting Table filled with Bookmarks “Keep Calm and Creep On”, TNT created by wrapping red licorice (cut in half) with a Minecraft TNT font paper label (the label ends double taped together), Minecraft Emeralds (the label is white cardstock affixed to small jewelry ziploc bags and I gave two choices of Emeralds: green Sixlets candy or Green jewel stones) and last but not least..Minecraft Diamonds (the label is white cardstock affixed to small jewelry ziploc bags and inside the bags are homemade rock candy that tastes like Cotton Candy, Minecraft Diamonds Rock Candy party favor recipe and instructions available here:  Minecraft Crafting Table Goody Bag Experience

The Pinata.  OMG.  Enough said 🙂 I bought a square pinata on clearance when I-Party was turning into Party City (70% off!!).  I wrapped the pinata with black crepe party streamers and glued it, strip by strip.  Yes, strip by strip.  Get ready to rock your body with this painstaking chore ahead of you.  The eyes are Purple and Lavender crepe party streamers glued on.  It was ALL WORTH IT when my son saw his Enderman Pinata completed.  I would do it again in a heartbeat. Maybe with wine next time… LOL

In the picture above, I push pinned two rolls of crepe paper party streamer into each of the four corners of my living room.  Take two rolls of crepe paper party streamer, hold them together evenly, push pin the two strips into one corner of the ceiling then roll them out while turing the two rolls together in a circle to achieve the twirled look.  Roll them all the way to the other corner of the ceiling, rip the two streamers off and push pin that end into the ceiling.  See below – roll A to D and B to C.  It’s a giant “X” on your ceiling.

You can make almost all of the blocks and items in Minecraft into paper blocks.  Go to http://pixelpapercraft.com/ Using their search engine, type in what you are looking for.  For example: I typed in Diamond Ore.

Make sure you use Cardstock in lieu of regular printer paper and have glue sticks handy. Cardstock is heavier and a little thicker than regular printer paper.  Have fun!!!  I decorated the party tables with random blocks, mini diamonds and Lapis Lazuli gems for flair.  The boys loved them!

Minecraft Creeper Plates Birthday Party decorations and supplies

Minecraft Birthday Party Creeper Plates

You will need square, green party paper plates, a roll of black duct tape, scissors, wax paper (NOT parchment paper) and a Minecraft Creeper face printed off the web to use as your stencil.  There are three parts to the face on the plate; the eyes, the nose connector and the mouth.

Print the Minecraft Creeper face off.  After you cut the duct tape shapes, you will use the creeper face as a guide for each plate so that your Creeper faces don’t turn out creepy and embarassing (too wide eyes, crooked mouth, etc.)

To cut the eye and nose connector duct tape shapes, roll out a strip of black duct tape and adhere it to the wax paper.  Use your cut out Creeper eye stencil to measure width and cut an entire strip for the eyes.  Now use the stencil again and cut each perfect little square. Multi tasking is what Moms do best! The long thin strip that remains will be used to cut the pieces for under the eyes that connects the eyes to the mouth.

To cut the duct tape mouth shapes, again roll out a strip of black duct tape and adhere it to the wax paper.  You will have to do this step a few times depending on the number of plates you are using.  What I did was only make a handful of Creeper plates and place them on top of the plate ppiles for the party.  Making these plates is a time consuming task.  With all of the other party preparations, I was pooped by the time the plate making rolled around…

You are using the wax paper for a number of reasons.  Duct tape is sticky.  Enough said.  And cutting the duct tape while it’s on the wax paper leaves no white tape rips and gives you clean, finished, straight lines.  Perfect little creeper face shapes is the goal.

Whoever had the most items at the end of the time limit was the winner of the giant Diamond.  They paired up, so think ahead on the prize.  I had one prize and two children that won together.  Suprise, Mom! What fun! Another trip to the store after the party for the second giant Diamond…

Natural Ways to Help with Insomnia

What are some ways I can help with my Insomnia?

An open bottle of the Essential Oil can be waved under the nostrils, or a few drops are put on a cotton ball, placed near bedding, under a car seat, or under your pillow. The sweet aromas help us to relax during otherwise stressful experiences.

Put a little warm water on top of the ‘hot plate’ and then add a few drops of essential oil to the burners that use a candle or to an electric burner.  Sitting near a burner or vaporizer can be a useful way to benefit from the properties of the oil.

Two to three drops added to a carrier oil and massaged into the temples or neck.

Put very hot water into a bowl and add three to four drops of essential oil.  Then lean over the bowl, place a large towel over your head and bowl to create  a tent to contain the steam, and inhale the vapors.  Steam inhalations can be overpowering, so use with caution.

All natural herbal fragrance mists can be made with 100% pure essential oils and distilled water.  Instructions:
Mix 8 to 10 drops of your favorite Essential Oil or blend
(or try one of our scent ideas) to 1 cup distilled water in a spray bottle
Use ribbon, string, yarn, raffia, or pipe cleaner to tie your tag to the neck of the bottle.
To use, shake well, and mist into the air

Use essential oils in the washer, the dryer or in drawers and closets.  Chamomile or Marjoram essential oils dropped onto a piece of material and popped in with the clothes in the dryer or three to five drops of the essential oils put into the softener compartment of your washer will help aid in sleep while you clean your pjs and/or bed sheets.

Essential oils in the Dryer recipe:
Instead of using toxic and irritating softening sheets in the dryer, toss in a dampened washcloth with 10 drops of lavender, lemon, bergamot, or other oils.

Make a Beddy Bye Sugar Scrub:
2 cups of white granulated sugar
1/3 cup Almond Oil (Coconut Oil will work too)
Lavender, Valerian, Chamomile (Roman) Essential Oils
Jar
Mixing bowl

Add 1/4 cup sugar to bowl
Add 1/3 cup Almond Oil slowly to get a soft consistency that’s not too oily.
Then add a few drops of Lemon Essential Oil!
Scoop the mixture into a pretty jar.  And keep it all to yourself.  Or…share with others!

Turn your fireplace into an aromatic event! One drop per log.

A few drops of essential oil in a bowl of boiling water (put out of the reach of children) will leave a lingering scent all over any room!

Air and Fabric Fresheners – Essential oils provide a better option all around versus commercial aerosol fresheners.  No more worrying about what those chemicals are doing to your family’s health or the earth’s ozone layer.

It’s been proven that with the effects of aromatherapy, just the way things smell can altar your mood.

Sleepy-Hour Relaxation 
4 drops Lavender Essential Oil
3 drops Chamomile Essential Oil

Add Essential Oils to your bath!  The warmth of the water encourages relaxation and also enables the essential oils to penetrate the skin.  Only the essential oils that are absolutely non-irritant should be added directly to the bath! Pre-dilute with a carrier oil or milk – four to six drops essential oils to one cup of milk or two teaspoons of carrier oil.

Essential oils enter the body in several different ways. They can be absorbed through the skin. They can also be inhaled, passing into the blood stream through the lungs or by causing signals to be transmitted through the nervous system directly into the limbic system of the brain. Smelling or diffusing the oils into the air is a basic way to transmit the oils. Massage is also a very popular method of working the oils into the body.

They should make a song about Calendula.  Or maybe they already have.  It should be catchy and light and fancy free.  Simply put, Calendula ROCKS.

Calendula is is a beautiful flower, when looked upon brings a smile to your face.  An even bigger smile should appear when you find out that it is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial – among other things.

Calendula has been used medicinally for centuries to heal wounds, burns and rashes, internally and externally. Calendula flowers have also been used traditionally to support the immune system and lift the spirits.

How to Make Calendula Infused Oil Recipe

Remember, the long it sits, the stronger the infusion. Drain with a cheescloth and ta-da! You’ve made an herbal infusion! Now store the covered jar in a cool, dark place.
You can also put fresh petals in a jar of oil in the sun for two weeks to create a solar-infused oil.

How to Make Calendula Salve Recipe

To create a calendula salve, blend four parts infused oil and one part melted bees wax. Or combine four parts cocoa butter, shea butter, or a combination with one part beeswax and one part oil. Definately adjust the amount of oil and beeswax to create the consistency you want. According to renown herbalist Rosemary Gladstar, salves are made by adding ¼ cup of beeswax to one cup of infused oil. Heat until the beeswax has melted.
Pour into a wide jar and cover. This mixture will thicken into a salve that you can use for burns and abrasions. It is also useful for diaper rash and other skin ailments.

 

How to Make Calendula Tea Recipe
Calendula tea is so easy to make. Put a couple of teaspoons of calendula petals in an infuser ball and pour a cup of boiling water over it; steep for 7-10 minutes. Drink up for tummy aches or use the tea to make a hot or cold compress.

Making your own herbal products gives you control over the ingredients you chose to put in or on your body. Experiment, experiment, experiment!!  Add other herbs to your salves and infusions.

Today’s Going Green tips and recipes are all about the inside of your home

We can control what goes into the air we breathe inside our home.  Let’s get started!

Do you enjoy the smell of Bleach or Synthetic Air Fresheners?  I don’t!  And it’s not FUN to clean and deodorize with that stuff!  You spray it into the air and POOF!…it’s gone in a flash.  Just the opposite, that bleach smell has eyes watering, noses burning and that smell lingers forever! Eww!

So what are we doing?!  We don’t sit there and say “Hey! I’ve got an idea! Let’s spray some toxic chemicals into the air today!”

No.  We are busy.  There is not enough time in the day.  We are always on the move.  We are multitasking machines!!  We have to go grocery shopping or no one eats and while we are at the store, cruising around, we grab & go; taking a bottle of air freshener for our fabric couches and rugs and air for $5.  We throw it in the cart and off we go to the milk section!

Do you love yourself?  Do you love your children? Your pets? Your family?

Of course you do.  I do, too.  Ever wonder why we are tired of being tired and sick of being sick?

Essential Oils.  Maybe you don’t know what they are.  That’s ok!  Think about it this way…you know what plants are.  What trees, leaves and flowers are.

Essential oils are distilled from the leaves, bark, roots and other aromatic portions of a botanical plant.

It is the essential oils within plants that gives each oil their characteristic smell and flavor. When we smell the delightful fragrance of roses, open a cedarwood box and inhale its woody smell, or add the zest of orange or lemon to a drink, it is the essential oil that we are enjoying!

We make messes.  We do! We’re human! Then we clean it up (usually the same day)…

Essential oils, vinegar and baking soda can be used to create many effective non-toxic (and wonderfully fragrant) cleansers and disinfectants.  Clean, disinfect and shine for pennies!  A straight 5% solution of vinegar kills 99 percent of bacteria, 82 percent of mold, and 80 percent of viruses.  Clean the dishwasher, coffeepot, windows,  Deodorize your sink drains.  Remove pet urine stains, grease from kitchen walls and mineral deposits around faucets.

Orange and Lemon are my personal favorites.  The smell, the antibacterial, antidepressant, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic and astringent power these oils have!

When I clean, I put Orange and/or Lemon Essential oil to work!  Put on some music, smell those delicious smells and get my clean on!

Ever wonder why there are so many orange cleaners today? Make your own orange cleaner to DISINFECT, SAVE MONEY and ENERGIZE.

These oils are UPLIFTING to the spirit but CALMING to your body!

Essential Oils are disinfectants!  Add to a spray bottle of water and spray into the air to deodorize, neutralize, and sterilize the air.

The majority of Essential Oils are inexpensive.  There are a handful that are not, simply because of the large number of flowers required to produce a small amount of it.

Floor Cleaner:
Add 1/4 cup white vinegar to a bucket of water. Add 10 drops of lemon oil and 4 drops of oregano essential oil. Oregano oil has powerful antiseptic properties!

Carpet freshener:
Add 16-20 drops of essential oils to a cup of baking soda. Mix well and place in a covered container overnight so that the oil can be absorbed. Sprinkle over your carpet the next day and then vacuum the powder up!

Painting:
Adding essential oil to paint will counteract the unpleasant smell. And because essential oils are not fatty oils, they will leave no oil spots on the walls. Add a 5 ml. bottle of your favorite essential oil, such as White Angelica, Abundance, or Sacred Mountain, to 1 gallon of paint. Mix well.
