Minecraft Enderman Birthday Party
Your child loves to play Minecraft and they want a Minecraft birthday party but their favorite character is Enderman.
What’s a mom to do? Get busy!
Let’s Get Creative!
In this blog I will share what I created, how I created it, write out the party food list for the store, provide recipes and lots of pictures! I will also provide links where you can get the decorations. Not expensive 🙂 Party on a budget!
How I did it: One box cake mix, three tubs frosting (two chocolate frosting tubs for black and one vanilla frosting tub split evenly between dark purple and light purple), three icing colors (two black and one purple). Wilton’s black icing color into the chocolate frosting tub and Wilton’s purple icing color into the vanilla frosting tub. Take half of the frosting out of the vanilla frosting tub with a spatula and put it into another similar container. Put a lot of purple icing color into one tub and less into the other tub to achieve the light and dark purple colors. Then mix with one wand carefully over your sink. Wear gloves at all times. Why? The icing colors stain skin and while mixing the frosting, it tends to go everywhere 🙂
Add black food coloring to a brownie mix for Enderman, then use purple icing for the eyes!  Make sure the brownies are square (everything in Minecraft is square).

Snip off the top of a black garbage bag squares. Take three pieces of black chenille craft wire and snipped them in half to made 6 perfectly sized legs. Wrap the 3 wires around the stick once to hold the garbage bag on tightly and finally give them knees by putting a kink in each leg at the center.
The Pinata. OMG. Enough said 🙂 I bought a square pinata on clearance when I-Party was turning into Party City (70% off!!). I wrapped the pinata with black crepe party streamers and glued it, strip by strip. Yes, strip by strip. Get ready to rock your body with this painstaking chore ahead of you. The eyes are Purple and Lavender crepe party streamers glued on. It was ALL WORTH IT when my son saw his Enderman Pinata completed. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Maybe with wine next time… LOL
Minecraft Ender Crystals (using purple rock candy sticks as the treat!)
Minecraft Enderman Cupcake Toppers /Â Enderman Cupcakes
Print out toppers and wrappers. Tape toppers to toothpicks and then insert into frosted cupcakes with Dirt Grass Cupcake Wrappers. Â It’s easiest to wrap the cupcakes first with the wrappers, then frost, then place the toppers on.
Remember, that everything in Minecraft is SQUARE. Â No round cupcakes are allowed! LOL! Â I had a party guest point that out to me at the first party and my heart sunk. Â So I am passing this tidbit on, to save you from that giant mistake!
We used large black gumballs for this treat.
The bookmarks were fun to make and super cool as party favors!
We used these to make the Enderman Goody Bags, Enderman party cups, Enderman treats (using bouncy balls) and you can make Enderman balloons!!
Enderman Eyes (using super bouncy balls as a goody bag gift)
Minecraft Dirt Grass Recipe
INGREDIENTS
3 tbsp butter
1 10 oz pckg large Marshmallows
OR
4 cups Mini Marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1 leaf green Wilton icing coloring
1 Wilton grass frosting tip #233
1 Wilton icing bag
1 White frosting tub
DIRECTIONS
- In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
- Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.
- Using spatula or wax paper, evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares.
- Mix green color into white frosting tub (I used a blender – one wand). Using spatula, take frosting from tube into plastic bag. Secure tip. Squeeze bag to form grass. Pull up and away when icing strand is long enough (about 1/2 inch) stop pressure and pull tip away. Grass will be neatly formed only if you stop squeezing before you pull tip away.
Enderman Pokemon Cards
These are cute to put into the goody bags 🙂
We used black chocolate licorice.  I didn’t even know that they sold CHOCOLATE black licorice.  YUMMY!!!
Minecraft Nether Portal with Streamers
To hang the streamers I climbed on a chair. I’m not suggesting that, that’s just what I did 🙂
I worked my way from the outside of the doorway in, starting with a couple rows of black crepe streamers and then moving into the rest of the streamer rows with dark purple streamers.
It is so much easier to precut the streamers before you climb up a ladder or chair, etc. Also wear something that has a pocket for the tape or do what I did and place the tape on the bookcase right next to you 🙂
I taped each piece of streamer to the molding above the door. After each piece was taped, I then took long pieces of tape to secure it all together.
After the streamers were hung, I used clear pushpins to attach the nether portal sign above the streamers and high enough so that no adult heads would hit the sign.
Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture of the nether portal sign after I hung it, so here’s a picture of what I tried to replicate.
Here’s an idea that we didn’t actually do at the party but I thought it was pretty cool.
Minecraft Bubble Particles OR Minecraft Rain Filled Cauldrons (because Enderman dislike rain) – using little black Bubble Bottles. You could also print out the Enderman eyes or faces and use double sided tape to stick onto the bubbles.
During party set up, the children assisted by hiding the skeleton bones, sprinkling Lapis Lazuli gems and diamond gems on all the tables and surface areas.
Party guests will take a marker and one post-it note. They will write their name and numerical guess onto one post-it, fold their paper in half and place it in the empty jar.
Party guests try to guess the exact number pieces of candy in a jar. At the end of the party, the Ghastly Guessing Game winner is announced and the candy jars are given to the winner.
Item List:
-White card stock (2 pieces, 8 1/2″ x 11″)
– scissors or paper cutter
– double sided tape (in the stationary/paper section of most stores – right next to the regular tape)
– regular tape
– Post-its
– Pen, pencil or colorful marker to write guesses
– One (1) clear jar, One regular jar or container to hold the paper guesses
– Bag of snack size chocolate bars
– Graham cracker box (1)
The party was terrific! The children especially liked the Skeleton Scavenger Hunt, the Ghastly Guessing Game, the Craft Your Own Goody Bags, the Potion Brewing Station and the Enderman everywhere in the party! 🙂
Throw a tablecloth down on your table. Then place the large white BREWING STATION poster board you created in the back center of the table.
Line the full, potion label wrapped unopened water bottles up on your table in front of the poster board. Tape some of the sign tents up near the station. Sprinkle little diamond or lapis lazuli (dark blue) play gems on the table.
Item List:
– large white or green or black poster board (I got ours at the dollar store)
– water bottles, unopened (remove/cut off the bottle labels that originally came on the bottles from the store)
– glue stick (We used the purple disappearing kind)
– scissors or paper cutter
– double sided tape (in the stationary/paper section of most stores – right next to the regular tape)
– regular tape
– flat surface (to lay the board out to create it)
– little play gems (We got ours at Michael’s crafts or dollar stores for around two – three dollars)
Or you can use them like this, too:
Not an expensive party. The time put into thinking up the ideas, printing and cutting out the food signs and decorations, grocery shopping for / making the food and setting up was my investment.
WELL WORTH IT!!
Success! Great memories made! Happy birthday child and guests!
