Enderman Cake

How I did it: One box cake mix, three tubs frosting (two chocolate frosting tubs for black and one vanilla frosting tub split evenly between dark purple and light purple), three icing colors (two black and one purple).  Wilton’s black icing color into the chocolate frosting tub and Wilton’s purple icing color into the vanilla frosting tub.  Take half of the frosting out of the vanilla frosting tub with a spatula and put it into another similar container.  Put a lot of purple icing color into one tub and less into the other tub to achieve the light and dark purple colors. Then mix with one wand carefully over your sink.  Wear gloves at all times.  Why?  The icing colors stain skin and while mixing the frosting, it tends to go everywhere 🙂

Minecraft Birthday Party | Minecraft Dirt Grass Recipe

INGREDIENTS
3 tbsp butter
1 10 oz pckg large Marshmallows
OR
4 cups Mini Marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1 leaf green Wilton icing coloring
1 Wilton grass frosting tip #233
1 Wilton icing bag
1 White frosting tub
DIRECTIONS
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
2. Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using spatula or wax paper, evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares.
4. Mix green color into white frosting tub (I used a blender – one wand). Using spatula, take frosting from tube into plastic bag. Secure tip. Squeeze bag to form grass. Pull up and away when icing strand is long enough (about 1/2 inch) stop pressure and pull tip away. Grass will be neatly formed only if you stop squeezing before you pull tip away.

At the party, the kids “crafted” their own goody bags when their parents arrived to pick them up.  Tape three signs to the table; front and both sides of the table (the table was surrounded at times on all sides by the boys checking it out 🙂

Place the open and empty Enderman Minecraft Goody Bags (black treat bags with Enderman eyes) and four bowls for the Crafting Table filled with Bookmarks “Keep Calm and Creep On”, TNT created by wrapping red licorice (cut in half) with a Minecraft TNT font paper label (the label ends double taped together), Minecraft Emeralds (the label is white cardstock affixed to small jewelry ziploc bags and I gave two choices of Emeralds: green Sixlets candy or Green jewel stones) and last but not least..Minecraft Diamonds (the label is white cardstock affixed to small jewelry ziploc bags and inside the bags are homemade rock candy that tastes like Cotton Candy, Minecraft Diamonds Rock Candy party favor recipe and instructions available here:  Minecraft Crafting Table Goody Bag Experience

The Pinata.  OMG.  Enough said 🙂 I bought a square pinata on clearance when I-Party was turning into Party City (70% off!!).  I wrapped the pinata with black crepe party streamers and glued it, strip by strip.  Yes, strip by strip.  Get ready to rock your body with this painstaking chore ahead of you.  The eyes are Purple and Lavender crepe party streamers glued on.  It was ALL WORTH IT when my son saw his Enderman Pinata completed.  I would do it again in a heartbeat. Maybe with wine next time… LOL

In the picture above, I push pinned two rolls of crepe paper party streamer into each of the four corners of my living room.  Take two rolls of crepe paper party streamer, hold them together evenly, push pin the two strips into one corner of the ceiling then roll them out while turing the two rolls together in a circle to achieve the twirled look.  Roll them all the way to the other corner of the ceiling, rip the two streamers off and push pin that end into the ceiling.  See below – roll A to D and B to C.  It’s a giant “X” on your ceiling.

Minecraft Diamond Ore Block

Diamond Ore is gray, light blue/aqua and white so choose two of those colors for your streamers.  I hung two Minecraft Diamond Ore Blocks from the center.   Here is the pattern for Diamond Ore:  http://pixelpapercraft.com/search?q=diamond+ore

Minecraft Blocks Birthday Party decorations and supplies

You can make almost all of the blocks and items in Minecraft into paper blocks.  Go to http://pixelpapercraft.com/ Using their search engine, type in what you are looking for.  For example: I typed in Diamond Ore.

Make sure you use Cardstock in lieu of regular printer paper and have glue sticks handy. Cardstock is heavier and a little thicker than regular printer paper.  Have fun!!!  I decorated the party tables with random blocks, mini diamonds and Lapis Lazuli gems for flair.  The boys loved them!

Minecraft Creeper Plates Birthday Party decorations and supplies

Minecraft Birthday Party Creeper Plates

You will need square, green party paper plates, a roll of black duct tape, scissors, wax paper (NOT parchment paper) and a Minecraft Creeper face printed off the web to use as your stencil.  There are three parts to the face on the plate; the eyes, the nose connector and the mouth.

Print the Minecraft Creeper face off.  After you cut the duct tape shapes, you will use the creeper face as a guide for each plate so that your Creeper faces don’t turn out creepy and embarassing (too wide eyes, crooked mouth, etc.)

To cut the eye and nose connector duct tape shapes, roll out a strip of black duct tape and adhere it to the wax paper.  Use your cut out Creeper eye stencil to measure width and cut an entire strip for the eyes.  Now use the stencil again and cut each perfect little square. Multi tasking is what Moms do best! The long thin strip that remains will be used to cut the pieces for under the eyes that connects the eyes to the mouth.

To cut the duct tape mouth shapes, again roll out a strip of black duct tape and adhere it to the wax paper.  You will have to do this step a few times depending on the number of plates you are using.  What I did was only make a handful of Creeper plates and place them on top of the plate ppiles for the party.  Making these plates is a time consuming task.  With all of the other party preparations, I was pooped by the time the plate making rolled around…

You are using the wax paper for a number of reasons.  Duct tape is sticky.  Enough said.  And cutting the duct tape while it’s on the wax paper leaves no white tape rips and gives you clean, finished, straight lines.  Perfect little creeper face shapes is the goal.

I set an hour time limit for the children.  They used their pockets to collect, but had lime green Creeper collection bags available to use. Whoever had the most items at the end of the time limit was the winner of the giant Diamond.  They paired up, so think ahead on the prize.  I had one prize and two children that won together.  Suprise, Mom! What fun! Another trip to the store after the party for the second giant Diamond…
